ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION

Litter is our responsibility -

April is the month of National Spring Clean, and Longford Local Authorities would like to invite your organisations to participate,
and clean up your Community.

All you need to do is decide on an area that needs cleaning up, register with An Taisce (01 – 4541819) and contact Longford County Council 043 3343367 / Longford Town Council 043 3346474 for any other help you need. An Taisce will post out clean–up kits to all groups that register to do a clean–up. It is entirely up to you where, when, and how you do it. Specially coloured bags will be provided for the collection of recyclables, (blue bags for food and drinks cans only, yellow bags for plastic bottles only and green for litter collected from Community areas).

This year due to increased waste charges Longford Local Authorities will NOT be providing skips for clean-ups or junk collections. Instead, we will be arranging to provide gloves, bags, etc to help you get rid of the litter you collect in a clean up of your local community. Please let us know, IN ADVANCE, when you are doing your clean up so we can organise collection of the bags. It will be then up to you to leave out the bags at a pre arranged pick up area for collection.

Arrangements will be put in place for the collection of large items, eg., furniture, electrical and white goods at dates to be arranged. This collection will be separate to the Spring Clean bag collection. These will be advertised in the local media.  For all other information you can contact the Environmental Section of Longford County Council at 043-3343367 or Longford Town Council at 043 3346474.

Lets all keep Longford Beautiful and give the County a good Spring Clean.

By volunteering for the Spring Clean Event you are helping to promote litter awareness and active participation in Longford’s main anti-litter initiative.

Litter is all of our responsibilities and it is time we took action against it.

With YOUR support we really need to make a success this year and take action to improve Longford in the IBAL League Competition which is due to commence in April so go on, get together and organise a local clean up.

Longford Local Authorities are making every effort possible to achieving this so why don’t YOU.
