Longford Town Council in association with The Arts Council is delighted to make available the 'Longford Town Public Art & Planning Project here on our website. This project attempted to devise a set of aesthetic guidelines for the future urban development of Longford town and to discuss the role of public art in urban planning. The project focuses on 12 specific locations in Longford town. Issues such as architecture, history, function, and future potential are discussed. The project was originally produced for the Arts Office of Longford County Council, with funding by the Arts Council of Ireland, with the goal of the project being to increase awareness of Irish people in their surroundings, the potential in their areas, public art, and town planning issues.
