Non Principal Private Residence.

NPPR LogoThe Local Government (Charges) Act 2009 introduces a €200 annual charge on non principal private residences, payable by the owner(s) of the NPPR to the Local Authority in whose area the property concerned is located. Payment of the  charge can be made online at https://www.nppr.ie/

The charge applies mainly to owners of private rental property and holiday homes.  It also applies to vacant residential property unless newly built but unsold. The NPPR Charge is a self assessment liability and owners of property will be required to determine and declare their liability to the NPPR charge.  No invoices or notices requiring payment will be issued by the local authorities.

Payment of the €200 charge for 2009 is due by 30th September, 2009.  If payment is not received by 31st October, 2009, a €20 late payment fee will apply in respect of each month or part of a month during which the charges remains unpaid.

    Important Notes: Cash will not be accepted.  Payment is by Cheque, Bank Draft, Postal Order and Credit/Laser  card only. 
    Payment should be made out to: LGCSB NPPR Cheques made out to Longford Town Council or Longford County Council cannot be accepted.
