  • Information iconThe original Draft Development Contribution Scheme which was adopted by the Council in March 2004 for the period up to 31 December 2009 is now under review. The Development Contribution Scheme has had a very positive impact on the delivery of infrastructure in Longford since its introduction.

  • Town Development Plan LogoNotice is hereby given that Longford Town Council being the Planning Authority for Longford Town, has pursuant to the provisions of the Planning and Development Act 2000, made the Longford Town Development Plan for the years 2009 – 2015. This plan supersedes any Draft Longford Town Development Plan and the previous Longford Town Development Plan 2004 – 2010.

     

  • Update on Paid Parking in Longford Town
  • Car Park sign An update on Car Parking rates in Longford Town as well as a detailed map on car park locations in the town is now available for viewing. Failure to comply with the parking regulations could result in Fixed Charge Notice being issued and so persons parking in the town are asked to familiarise themselves with the regulations.

  • Non Principal Private Residence Charge Introduced
  • NPPR Logo The Local Government (Charges) Act 2009 introduces a €200 annual charge on non principal private residences, payable by the owner(s) of the NPPR to the Local Authority in whose area the property concerned is located. The charge applies mainly to owners of private rental property and holiday homes.  It also applies to vacant residential property unless newly built but unsold.

  • Longford heritage plan CoverThe Longford Heritage Forum, in partnership with the Longford Heritage Office want to hear your views and ideas about heritage for the preparation of the next Longford Heritage Plan.  The Heritage Plan is a countywide action plan which aims to protect, enhance and promote awareness of heritage in Longford.

  • Proposed Amendments to Draft Longford Town Development Plan 2009 – 2015
  • A number of amendments to the Draft Longford Town Development Plan 2009 – 2015 have been proposed. The proposed amendments are accompanied by the SEA Addendum, which assess the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the proposed amendments, prepared in accordance with the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations, 2004.

  • Town Council logoLongford Town Council wishes to dedicate a public art commission as a recognition and celebration of the achievements of Longford emigrants everywhere. Longford emigrants emigrated to every point on the globe and both they and their descendents made enormous positive contributions to their host societies in every walk of life, from sport through business and politics to culture and entertainment.

  • Longford Town Centre Car Park Bye-Laws 2006
  • Car Park Bye-Laws have been made for the introduction of parking control by “Pay and Display” in the Town Centre Car Park.  Parking fee in respect of the Town Centre Car Park is: €1 per hour, maximum stay 2 hours. The Bye-Laws will come into operation on the 1st August 2008. Additional signs have also been erected at the entrances to the Town Centre Car Park.

  • Main Street longfordTwo proposed variations of the Town Development Plan as well as a Local Area Plan for the Northern Environs of Longford Town are now available for viewing. Any member of the public or interested parties can make observations or submissions on same before set deadlines.

  • Online Payment of Traffic Fines
  • Photo of online paymentAn online facility allowing you to pay for traffic fines is now available. Using this system you can enter the details found on the parking ticket and proceed to pay the fine outstanding. The system is designed to be user friendly and to make the payment process both simple and secure.
